Background

This one-hour interactive workshop, organized jointly by UNITAR and WSIS, as part of the WSIS+20 High-Level Event 2025, is designed to introduce participants to the World Summit on the Information Society process. The session will cover the creation of WSIS, its unique multistakeholder approach, the key action lines, and the future outlook as well as key events to follow during the Forum.

Tailored specifically for youth and cross-sectoral stakeholders, the session will feature a presentation by a WSIS expert, complemented by engaging discussions and interactive exercises. Participants will deepen their understanding of global digital cooperation and explore opportunities for active involvement in WSIS and broader digital development initiatives.

In close collaboration with the WSIS team, UNITAR will deliver a certificate of participation to participants who attend the session.

Content and Structure

The session will be structured to provide both expert input and space for active engagement. It will begin with a presentation by a WSIS expert, offering a clear overview of the WSIS process and its key components. This will be followed by interactive segments, including opportunities for Q&A and peer exchange, allowing participants to share perspectives, ask questions, and reflect on how the WSIS framework connects to their own work or interests.
