Event Objectives

Promote environmental sustainability through hands-on activities. Educate students on recycling and waste repurposing in an engaging way. Strengthen children's connection to nature and biodiversity. Encourage responsibility for ecosystem preservation. Provide practical knowledge on sustainable production and land conservation.

Background

Raising awareness about environmental sustainability from an early age helps shape future generations that are more conscious of nature. To foster this awareness, a seed ball workshop and sapling planting activity were organized at Malatya Şehit Aytaç Altunörs Secondary School. Through hands-on engagement, students learned how to repurpose waste materials while also understanding the importance of protecting biodiversity. By directly interacting with nature, they developed a stronger sense of responsibility for the environment and its preservation.

Content and Structure

Students were introduced to sustainability through two interactive activities designed to be both educational and engaging. In the first session, they created seed balls using recycled newspaper, flower seeds, soil, and cinnamon powder, showcasing an innovative way to repurpose waste materials while promoting green spaces. The event continued with a sapling planting session in the schoolyard, where each child planted a tree, deepening their connection with nature and reinforcing their role in ecosystem conservation.

Methodology

The methodology of the event was based on an experiential learning approach, where students actively participated in seed ball preparation and tree planting to reinforce environmental consciousness through direct engagement.
